SOMETIMES A SHARED PAST BECOMES THE FOUNDATION OF A SHARED FUTURE…
How did we get here?
The funny thing is, our story began long before we knew it.
We both attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School (SPLS) for our primary and junior high education. I was two years ahead of Helena, so although we shared the same school, we were never classmates or friends. Looking back, we sometimes wonder how many times we may have crossed paths without ever knowing that one day, we would become each other’s person.
Years passed. School became a memory, and life took us in different directions.
Then, on 31st March 2022, we found ourselves together again at the one-week observation of the mother of two old SPLS schoolmates and friends. Neither of us went that day expecting anything beyond supporting our friends and their family. And yet, somehow, I noticed Helena.
Before the day ended, we exchanged numbers. Nothing dramatic. Just two old schoolmates reconnecting.
After the funeral, however, something changed. We began talking more. Conversations became longer, friendship became affection, and affection quietly became love. Before long, we were calling each other “Bébé.” ❤️
And then came the proposal… well, according to me, it happened! 😂 According to Helena, my beautiful trainee lawyer, I have still not officially proposed. I have learnt not to argue with a trainee lawyer, so I shall simply do the needful. 💍😂
And here we are.
Looking back, we marvel at how God brought two people who had unknowingly shared the same school corridors years ago back into each other’s lives at exactly the right time.
Our story is a reminder that God’s timing is perfect. Sometimes love doesn’t arrive with fireworks. Sometimes, it begins quietly, waits patiently, and when the time is right, becomes everything.
